Can I get fingerprinted for employment purposes at the Havelock Police Department?
Yes. The hours for fingerprinting are 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays.


When do I call 911?
Whenever you need immediate police, fire, or EMS response. If you have a non-emergency situation or question, plese call the regular phone number 447-3212.


How do I find out the status of my case?
Contact the officer who took your report and speak with him / her. After hours contact the dispatcher to leave a message on the officer’s voice mail. For an investigator, contact Lt. Woods at 252-447-3212 ext. 3104.


How do I get a copy of a police incident or accident report?
Come by the Police Department located at 2 Governmental Avenue and request a copy of your report from the Receptionist in the front lobby. There will be a $5.00 fee to prepare a copy of your report for you.


Who should I contact about employment opportunities at the Havelock Police Department?

No, our officers respond to all calls for service.


What can I do to help fight crime in my community?
Get involved with police, community watch groups, businesses, and schools to address community concerns. Inquire at the Police Department about the start of our next Citizens Police Academy.


I have received a traffic ticket. Where do I pay it?
Minor traffic offenses may be paid prior to your court date at the Magistrate’s office located at 300 Miller Blvd. More serious offenses require a court appearance. For further information, contact the District Attorney’s office at 252-639-9010.


Where can I obtain a warrant?
The Magistrate’s office issues warrants. They are located at 300 Miller Blvd, 252-444-6427.


Where can I obtain a gun permit?
Gun permits are obtained through the Craven County Sheriff’s Office. For more information contact them by calling 252-636-6620.


What can I do about abandoned vehicles / trash in my neighborhood?
If the vehicle or trash is in the street you would contact the Police Department. If it is in someone’s yard or business, contact the City of Havelock Planning and Inspections Department at 252-444-6437.


Should I call the police for a minor traffic accident?
Yes. In minor traffic collisions things occur that are not immediately noticeable, such as an uninsured driver, damage to the vehicle, or an injury. Some insurance companies require a police report before they will settle the case. North Carolina law does not require that an individual report collisions to the police if there are no injuries and the total amount of property damage is less than $1000.


How long do I have to wait before I can report someone missing?
You do not have to wait to report a missing person. The report should be made to the law enforcement agency of the jurisdiction where the person was last seen.
