Support Services Division

Support Services provides a myriad of professional services which support and enhance our law enforcement and community operations. This division furnishes professional criminal investigations for the agency, a 24-hour 7-days-a-week state of the art enhanced 911 communications center, administrative staff support, and animal control with an animal services facility. Additionally, Support Services provides professional law enforcement education and specialized training services to the Havelock Police Department.

Within this division, we offer community outreach programs, which provide the community a full range of services. We provide bicycle and child safety seat programs, Citizens’ Police Academy, Citizen Emergency Response Team, Governor’s Highway Safety Program, and a National Law Enforcement night out event.

Business Alarm and Hold Up Procedures Training:
Businesses are a favorite targets for criminals. The department offers training for business owners/employees that will help protect them and assist law enforcement officers identify a suspect in the event of robbery or alarm.  For more information please call 252-447-3212 Ext 3107
Business Escort:
Safety of owners and employees of city businesses that make daily financial deposits are a priority. The owner/employee simply calls the department at 252-447-3212 Ext 3128 and requests a escort. A uniformed officer will respond to the business and escort the owner/employee to a financial institution.
Citizen Volunteer Program:
Since September 11, 2001, the demands on state and local law enforcement have increased dramatically. As a result, already limited resources are being stretched further at a time when our country needs every available officer out on the beat. The Havelock Police Department presently is using citizen volunteers in a variety of ways. To learn more please click here.
Citizens Police Academy:
This course of instruction has been designed to familiarize citizens with the administrative philosophy, internal policies, and guiding principles of law and ethical conduct governing the delivery of police services within our community. Civilian Ride Along Program:
The department is proud of the job they do, our employees and equipment. We consider it a privilege to show our citizens what we do. We do this by allowing our citizens to ride along with our officers. Contact 252-447-3212 Ext 3107 for information.
Community Emergency Response Team:
"CERT" is a group of organized, trained citizens that have the ability to recognize, respond to, and recover from major emergencies or disaster situation. To learn more please click here.
National Night Out:
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back To learn more please click here.
Vacation Security Check:
The vacation security check program is part of the department Community Policing initiative. Residents leaving the area for vacation or extended travel drop by the department and fill out a residential security check form.
