While the K-9 Unit primary responsibilities are the safe apprehension of serious criminal offenders, the timely discovery of evidence, the protection of the public and officers and the search for missing persons, they also serve as a link between the department and the community.

Jessie is a 5 year old German Shepard that came from Holland in October of 2001. Jessie replaces canine Fox who was honorably retired after 8 1/2 years service. Jessie holds a certification through the North American Police Working Dog Association in Evidence Recovery, Narcotics Search, and Tracking.
