Comprehensive Master Plan Adopted

The city of Havelock Parks and Recreation Department solicited public input via three workshops and a mailed survey for the Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan.

Parks and Recreation Department Staff as well as the Recreation Advisory Board also provided input. Public input had been vital and was considered the key ingredient by the Parks and Recreation Department in the development of the Master Plan.

Public comments from the workshops and the survey results were part of the Master Plan that has been developed by project consultant Hayes, Seay, Matern and Matern (HSMM), and adopted by the Havelock Board of Commissioners.

The Parks and Recreation Department will use the Master Plan as the framework for future growth and development. The Master Plan is a document that will guide the Havelock Parks and Recreation Department for a period of 5-15 years. Most federally funded grants permit point values for Master Plan development for a period of 10 years from date of adoption on grant applications.

Although the first Comprehensive Master Plan for the Havelock Parks and Recreation Department is completed, the Parks and Recreation Department is always interested in receiving input from the public on both facility and program development.

The Havelock Parks and Recreation Department would like to express its appreciation to all of those that have provided input into this very important document.
